For those of us who revel in our time spent alone watching nature go about its daily business, you will find Brent’s collection of thoughts and poems a very special read. There is a large dose of respect for God’s creation, of honesty, and of concern for all things wild in Thoughts from the Stand.

Many of us have thoughts and the desire to put our thoughts down on paper, but few of us have the skill, the gift, and the follow through to really do it. Brent is one of the few. I have a deep respect for Brent as he put into words what so many of us appreciate in life.

Brent cares and he wants you to care, too, about the places wildlife call home. We protect what we love and care about and it is my hope that everyone who reads Thoughts from the Stand will have a deeper appreciation for all things wild.

Like I said, Brent is obviously a gifted writer and we are all better off for Brent having taken the time to put into words what is close to his heart. Enjoy!

Proud Father Brad Farris

If I was able to total up the number of hours that I have spent in a tree stand, hoping to call up or just ambush a whitetail, you would wonder if I ever slept. I started hunting and fishing when I was old enough to jump on my bike with my fishing rod or .22. As a matter of fact, I missed more than one day of school because I was busy fishing at the local reservoir or bumming a ride before I had a driver’s license, so I didn’t miss opening day of deer season.

During those many hours in the tree stand, I have seen nature go about its daily job of making a living. I’ve prayed, wished, and dreamed so I, for one, have a deep appreciation for Brent having shared his thoughts for all of us to enjoy. If you get nothing more from reading Brent’s Thoughts from the Stand than a deep appreciation for the quiet time that we deer hunters spend in a tree stand, you will be better for it.

Brent with Jim Zumbo
Here's a book that will immediately win your heart. Thoughts From The Stand is the finest collection of hunting poetry I've ever seen.

I've never written a complete poem, nor have I been much interested in reading them, but Brent Bacon's work is not only easy to read, but descriptive to the point where you feel as though you're actually on the hunt, seeing the woods around you, smelling the forest scents, and touching the ferns and grass.

This book will be on my nightstand, and I'll read it more than once.
